Aker Finnyards delivers Tallink’s new EUR 165 mln cruise vessel. A new cruise ferry M/S Galaxy was delivered by Aker Finnyards to Tallink’s subsidiary Tallink Sea Line Limited yesterday. After the necessary preparations the vessel will start cruising between Helsinki and Tallinn in the end of April. The vessel is to be launched in April 2006 and cost around EEK 2.6 bln (165 mln euros). Tallink plans to spend over EEK 7 billion in acquiring new passenger ferries in the next few years.

Police bring criminal charges against Norwegian businessman. Estonia police have charged a 38-year-old Norwegian businessman who last summer stole a yacht from Pirita yachting harbour in Tallinn and attempted to sail to St. Petersburg in Russia. Because of poor navigational skills, the yacht rank aground about a hundred metres from the yachting harbour. Under the Estonian law, the maximum penalty for such a crime is three years in prison.
