Pasha Bulk sõitis randa

2006. aastal ehitatud balker PASHA BULK otsustas 8. juunil karmidele ilmastikuoludele järgi anda ja ennast Austraalia rannikule (Nobby Beach) heita. Laev ootas 58000 tonni söe laadimist Newcastle’i sadama lähedal, kui 18 meetri kõrgused lained hakkasid laeva kiusama.

Kõik 21 meeskonnaliiget pääses vigastusteta laeva pealt. Merereostust täheldatud pole:

The vessels 21 crew (19 Filipinos and two Korean officers) were all rescued without major injury. At this time, there is no ostensible evidence that an oil leak has occurred, but it is a concern given the vessel is carrying 700 tonnes of fuel oil, 38 tonnes of diesel and 40 tonees of lube oil. Accordingly, NSW Maritime, Newcastle Port Corporation and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority have a contingency plan in place should a leak occur, and the NSW Fire Brigrade hazardous materials (HAZMAT) crews are also at the scene. As a result of the weather, there were separate concerns for M/V Sea Confidence and M/V Betis, which were also swept close to shore and were towed to deeper waters by tugs. NSW Maritime is investigating to determine if weather warnings were ignored.

Arvatakse, et laev võib jääda rannale mitmeks nädalaks, millega kaasneb oht pooleks minna…

Suur tänu Olevile, kes laevaõnnetusele tähelepanu pööras :)

Offtopic: mõned aastad tagasi plaanisin samas sadamas merre ujuma minna. Kui sain teada kohalikult noormehelt, et mõni päev tagasi naksas hai ühte uljast ujujat, jäi minu plaan katki. Olen näinud piisavalt filme "Lõuad", "Lõuad 2" jne…
